Hawaiian artist Johnnie "Keoni" Durant is spending his summer vacation visiting friends and carving an elaborate tiki in Centennial Park along Evanston's lakefront. Durant is well-known for his traditional Hawaiian sculpture and jewelry, which can be found in private collections and galleries, and on hotel properties and movie sets. This summer he is drawing daily crowds as he carves the larger-than-life-size tiki, which he plans on giving to the City of Evanston as a gift.
A tiki is a large wood (or stone) carving that embodies the human figure. In Polynesian mythology, it represents a deep connection to the spiritual realm. Historically tikis reminded ancient Hawaiians of their values, including respect for family, appreciation of nature and belief in the power of knowledge. Today, tikis serve as symbols of humanity and creating a better life among all peoples.
The Evanston tiki represents the god of sportsmanship and recreation and will watch over families and the community as they engage in such activities. Durant named the sculpture “'Ohana,” which means family (and community) in Hawaiian, and is a reminder that no one should be left behind or forgotten. To pay tribute to the residents of Evanston and the City's commitment to the health and well-being of its residents, Durant is incorporating the City's logo into his carving.
Durant's creation is being carved from white oak, the Illinois state tree, and will take approximately a month to complete. When finished, the tiki will stand approximately eight feet tall.
The public is invited to watch the tiki being created. The major carving is being done at Centennial Park, between Church and University Place. Once this work is completed, the tiki will be moved south, closer to the lagoon in Dawes Park for the finer carving and finishing touches. The best time to see Durant work is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. Durant plans on presenting the finished tiki to Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl and the City Council. The final indoor location for the completed sculpture has yet to be determined.

A life-long resident of the island of Kaua'i, Johnnie “Keoni” Durant is deeply rooted in the Polynesian culture. Standing in the crossroads of the past and the present, Keoni is known throughout the world for his traditional Hawaiian sculpture and jewelry.
Keoni is deeply committed to honoring the way of life created by his ancestors—the high chiefs (Ali’i Nui) of the Kānaka Maoli nation—the original caregivers (and settlers) of the Polynesian archipelago now known as Hawaii.
This is Keoni’s second visit to the mainland and Evanston. His first was last winter, when he experienced snow and extreme cold (11 below zero) for the first time. His sweetheart (kuipo), who he met while carving a four poster bed on a beach on Kaua’i, grew up in Evanston and lured him back to Chicago for a summertime visit with the promise that he would love the trees, not to mention the unmatched culture and diversity of her home town.

The Evanston Water Filtration Plant is located just to the east across Sheridan Road from Block 89 - on the shore of Lake Michigan. So this block is graced by the blessings of utilities - made the Divine Providence of our Lord - that provide both "light" and "water" to mankind.

If you come to Evanston you can't help but visit Northwestern University. At the southern edge of NU's lakefront campus you will find the headquarters of my fraturnity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE), which is located at 1856 Sheridan Road. Inside SAE's building is the incredibly beautiful Levere Memorial Temple with its stained glass windows - the last commissioned work by Louis Tiffany before his passing in 1933.
At the eastern wall of this temple which is used by "The Church of Christ The King" each Sunday is a beautiful stained glass window of our Lord God Jesus Christ - see below. SAE was founded on the evening-morning of March 8-9th in the year 1856 - hence the address 1856 Sheridan Road. If you add Jesus (15131) to 18560308 you will arrive at August 11th in the year 1897.

According to Wikipedia, Chief Mountain was formerly called "Kings Peak" as follows:
Chief Mountain has been a sacred mountain to Native American tribes for hundreds of years. The Blackfoot name for the mountain is Ninastiko. The mountain was seen by white explorers in the late 1700s and was known as "Kings Peak" on maps produced in the United Kingdom in 1795.
The eastern face of the mountain rises over 1,500 vertical feet (457 m) and the easiest route on this section is rated class 4 by mountaineers. The rock is also primarily sedimentary and provides poor anchor points, which in turn is a contributing factor to the difficulty rating. Henry Stimson and two other explorers, including a Blackfeet Indian, climbed the difficult eastern face on September 8, 1892, and this is the first known ascent of the peak by white explorers. Upon the summit, Stimson's party observed ceremonial remains including bison skulls that had been left behind by Native Americans. The eastern face of the peak wasn't successfully climbed again until 1951.

Earlier today my wife and I went for a walk which began at the intersection of Orrington Avenue and Lincoln Street here in Evanston. The southwest corner of Block # 89 graces this intersection which is located right across the street from 640 Lincoln Street which is the address for Roycemore School. Right across from Roycemore School the address would be 641 which is the prime of Rose (9615) = 641 prime X 15. My wife, Maribeth, was born 641 "Prime of Rose" days from 19580205, the day I was born.
The time was 5:41 when we circled back in front of Roycemore School. 541 is the 101st prime number. Two cycles of 541 days brings us back to 20060921 which was the end of the 1122nd cycle of ONE (655) days since the birth of our Lord on August 11th in 6 BC. 20060921 was the day when AFTF (America: Freedom To Facism), the documentary produced by Aaron Russo was screened to a soldout crowd at Chicago's Navy Pier IMAX Theatre.

According to Googlemaps the distance between my mother's home and Chief Mountain is 641 miles which is the prime of the word Rose (9615) = 641 prime X 15.
Googlemaps also shows that you can reach Chief Mountain the long way - 890 miles through Canada - along US Route 1 and then way north along Canada's Highway # 2 which goes through Banff National Park which is where my mother and father went on their honeymoon after they got married on June 28, 1951.
890 corresponds to "God (764) In (95) Us (31)" = 890 = 89 "Prime of Leo (356)" X 10. 890 "God In Us" days prior to today, 9/07, brings us to 20070401 which is the 4/01 (401) mo/day in the 223 prime X 9 = 2007 year. There's really no end to the number of mileage readings you can do with any location, but I was called to caculate the distance between Chief Mountain and another little mountain that my family has climbed many times over the years, Piestewa Peak, AZ - formerly called "Squaw Peak". When you type in "Piestewa Peak, AZ" into Googlemaps it automatically zeros in on a place called "The Legacy at Piestewa Peak" which is located right across the street from the the Point Hilton Squaw Peak Resort which is where my family has stayed many times in the past.
The mileage-distance between Chief Mountain and what Googlemaps notes as "Piestewa Peak" - as noted - is 1359 which is 151 prime from 1510 which corresponds to God (764) Is (91) One (655) = 1510 = 151 prime X 10
Finally, I checked the mileage between Chief Mountain and 1310 US Route 89 which is the address for our cabin which is located one mile south of Clyde Park, MT. It's interesting to note that the number that came up was 337 miles. As in 1892, September 8, 2009 - the 117th anniversary of the first ascent of Chief Mountain by white men - is 337 days from August 11th, the Divine Birthdate of our Lord.
337 also corresponds to the EXACT time - 3 hours and 37 minutes - it took for my wife and three sons to hike 1/2 down into the Grand Canyon and back up along the South Kaibab Trail on Thursday March 19, 2009 which was 2047 = 23 "I Am" X 89 "Prime of Leo (356)" days from 20030811, the Divine Birthdate of our Lord. 20030811 was/is 89 "Prime of Leo (356)" days from 20031108, my wife's 44th birthday and also the day of the Harmonic Concordance when there was a total Lunar Eclipse in conjunction with a perfect "Star of David" formation among the stars and planets in our solar system. But when you type in "1310 US 89" Googlemaps automatically determines that you want to go ONE (1) mile along I-90 east from the US 89/I-90 intersection which is 354 miles from Chief Mountain. The upshot of this is that the Leo (356th) mile from Chief Mountain becomes Mile # 1 of US Route 89 north of I-90.
Before I close I wanted to share one very revelatory numerical connection to Chief Mountain as follows:
Independence Hall in Philadelphia is where our Founding Father's gave birth to the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Chief Mountain is located EXACTLY 2389 prime miles from the beginning of Interstate 76 which corresponds to the english word GO (76). 2389 is the Leo (356th) prime number in the prime number system - and it's composed of 23 "I (9) Am (14)" and 89 which is the prime of Leo (356) = 89 prime X 4, etc. Here's the googlemap details:

Mark Buehrle delivers during his perfect-game, 5-0 victory Thursday vs. Tampa Bay.
Mark Buehrle out-did himself Thursday, throwing the Sox' first perfect game since 1922 and the first in the majors in five years, shackling the Tampa Bay Rays 5-0. Buehrle, who pitched a no-hitter against Texas in April of 2007, threw 116 pitches and fanned six. The last Sox pitcher to throw a perfect game was Charlie Robertson in 1922.
Give a huge assist to Dewayne Wise, who was a somewhat controversial choice to remain on the roster over Brian Anderson when Carlos Quentin was activated this week. Wise climbed the center-field wall in the ninth inning to rob Gabe Kapler of a home run and preserve the perfecto.
Some might suspect that another assist should go to home-plate umpire Eric Cooper, who has been behind the plate for not only both of Buehrle's no-hitters, but also for Hideo Nomo's no-hitter against Baltimore in 2001. Coincidence? Apparently so. There's no evidence that Buehrle was getting an unusually big strike zone Thursday. Only one of his six strikeout victims was caught looking, and there didn't seem to be any complaints coming from Rays batters. In fact, it was Sox fans who were groaning in the ninth when Cooper seemed to squeeze Buehrle on a couple of close pitches that were called balls. Give all the credit for this one to Buehrle and his defense.

July 23, 2009 and the number 56 was very special not only for Mark Buehrle's perfect game day, but it was for our neighbor's 56th birthday. This wasn't planned, but this video came out to be EXACTLY 56 seconds long!
56 was/is the umpire number for Eric Cooper, the home plate umpire who worked Mark Buehrle's no-hitter on 4/18/07 and his perfect game on 7/23/09.

The Magic Bracelet? - WPIX: "WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, N.Y. - On May 15, 2009 Yankee center fielder Brett Gardner hit an inside the park home run, the first ever at the new Yankee Stadium. What wasn't known at the time was the inspiration behind the rare sports feat. It was a teenage girl named Alyssa Esposito who he had visited in a hospital a few hours earlier. She needed a heart. He needed a hit.
They met at New York Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Center through Project Sunshine, an organization whose volunteers pay visits to sick children. The organization uses bracelets as fund raisers. Eighteen-year-old Alyssa gave a bracelet to Bret, telling PIX News, ' I gave him the bracelet. I said hit a home run. This bracelet will make you hit a home run if you wear it.'
Gardner, the Yankee, was understandably skeptical. 'Alyssa gave me a bracelet and told me it'll make me hit a home run. Yeah, I thought to myself, yeah right, cause I don't hit many home runs.'
But he did that night, and something else happened Alyssa tells PIX. 'That same night I got the call for the heart.'
Today the pair reunited talking about what is now being called the 'magic' Project Sunshine Bracelet."

The New York Yankees first home in Manhatten was Hilltop Park which was located on the same grounds as the current New York Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Center - formerly named Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center which has occupied the site since the 1920s.
New York obtained its American League team belatedly when Frank Farrell and Bill Devery bought the Baltimore Orioles and moved them to Manhattan. The team was known as the Highlanders for the first few years at Hilltop. Then, of course, they became known as the Yankees. Hilltop Park, constructed in only six weeks, had a roofed single-decked grandstand that wrapped around home plate and extended a few feet past 1st base and 3rd base. Open bleachers, which were covered on 1911, extended down the foul lines to the outfield fences. In 1912, bleachers were erected in center field.
