Eagle-eagle-birdie run turns genteel Augusta National into madhouse

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- This was not golf. No, golf as we know it -- even as defined by the best players in the world -- has human characteristics. It wobbles. It deceives. It goes left when it's supposed to go right. It rewards stingily.

This? This looked suspiciously like a finger reaching down from above and touching a man wearing a white golf glove. And ever so briefly, that man knew what perfection felt like, even though he was swinging left-handed.

What Phil Mickelson did to three unsuspecting holes Saturday at Augusta National was something people dream about, then immediately feel silly for.

In a span of 35 minutes during the third round of the Masters, Mickelson went from being four strokes behind leader Lee Westwood to being ahead by one. Read more here.

Today is April 10th (4/10) and at EXACTLY 4:10 pm CDT Phil made the first of this two consecutive eagles on the 13th hole, one of only three individuals in the history of the Masters to perform this feat.

At EXACTLY 4:21 pm Phil made his second eagle on the #14th hole.

And As Rick Morrissey wrote:

"On the par-4 14th, with 139 yards to the pin, he pulled out his pitching wedge. Mickelson has a habit of talking to his shot while it's in the air, especially when he strikes the ball pure. He'll say, ''Oh, be right,'' or ''Come on, honey,'' and he'll say it so plaintively it sounds as though it hurts. This time, he said nothing as the ball hung in the blue sky."

It hit about five feet beyond the pin and spun back into the cup. The ovation rumbled across Augusta National like seismic waves. It was only the third time in Masters history that a player has had back-to-back eagles."

One hole later on #14 Phil came within 6 inches of making his 3rd consecutive eagle.

35 minutes of white-hot electricity that began at EXACTLY 4:10 pm CDT took us to 4:45 pm which is 89 "Prime of Leo (356)" from Leo (356).

Here's just a first glimpse of the numbers...
